Lesley Arfin, one of the writers of HBO series Girls, on Twitter.
I suppose this is a joke? Is this how she deals with commentary about the lack of diversity in the show? I am baffled, someone through me a rope!

Well, this made me feel like barfing.

this is why when people repost that thing about cutting out the Girls backlash, i gasface.

OH MY GOD I SAW THIS BUT I DIDN’T KNOW SHE WROTE FOR THE SHOW.
This should be grounds for termination.

I mean, that’s obviously a joke, though. And I have a lot of trouble identifying sarcasm, but I see that as sarcasm immediately. Is it just that this kind of joke is considered off-limits for people to make, or are people pissed because they’re taking it seriously?
ETA: And by the way, I read it as a joke on white feminists who exhibit unconscious white privilege. Seems like everyone else is taking it as an example of that thing, rather than a joke about that thing. Or am I reading this all wrong?
